Williams Lake's PEDAL BY THE PUDDLE

Six Hour Enduro Mountain Bike Event

2010 Race Summary

Once again the weather gods smiled on the Pedal by the Puddle, our 3rd annual, and a good day was had by all. Boredom was rampant in the First Aid pit as they had almost no work at all, except for some minor scrapes, plus  attending to their OWN sunburns. That's how we like it, but there was no boredom elsewhere, as 131 adults and 28 kids participated in this year's event. A grand total of 476 laps were ridden on the big course. More than half the participants were from out of town, from as far north as McKenzie, and as far south as Summerland, with a whopping 31 riders from Prince George, who by the way took away more than their share of the medals--good on you!! As the last podium finishers to be called up were walking away with their trophies, the skies opened, and a deluge of rain and hail saturated the race venue. Everyone scattered to their cars for the drive home, but it was too late to spoil the party. Techies were enthralled this year as we uploaded interim results to the zone 4 website several times during the race, and they could check on their smart phones to see how how they were doing. Twenty-eight kids got a first taste of what it feels like to zap strap a number plate on the front of your bike, and give it all you have. There were some pretty red faces, but they were all proud smiles afterward! Many thanks to our sponsors (see sponsor page in sidebar), tireless volunteers and organizers, and all the participants who came from near and far to make the day a success. See you next year, and stay tuned: we're in the early planning stages of a three day stage race next summer in Williams Lake!
